McDonnell Douglas MD-90-30, operated by Japan Airlines as JA002D. The aircraft originally served Japan Air System and joined JAL after the two Japanese carriers merged. Powered by two International Aero Engines V2500 turbofans, the MD-90 offered greater thrust, lower noise, and improved fuel efficiency compared with the earlier MD-80 family. JA002D served domestic routes throughout Japan, where the type's capacity was well suited to medium-density markets. JAL inherited a relatively small MD-90 fleet and continued operating it until 2013, when newer Boeing 737-800s and other aircraft replaced the distinctive rear-engine twinjets, ending MD-90 passenger service in Japan.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
