Airbus A319, operated by Iberia as EC-KKS. The compact Airbus narrowbody served short and medium-haul routes from Madrid to destinations throughout Spain, Europe, and North Africa. Powered by two high-bypass turbofan engines, the A319 combines useful range with lower passenger capacity than the A320 and A321, making it suitable for thinner business and regional markets. Iberia benefited from extensive cockpit and maintenance commonality across its Airbus narrowbody fleet. Aircraft such as EC-KKS could efficiently maintain frequencies on routes where a larger jet would provide unnecessary capacity. Newer A320neo and A321neo aircraft are progressively modernizing Iberia's European fleet.
