McDonnell Douglas MD-80, operated by Frontier Airlines as N859HA. The aircraft belonged to the original Denver-based Frontier's later jet fleet during the turbulent U.S. airline industry of the 1980s. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-200 series engines, the MD-80 family offered greater capacity, range, and fuel efficiency than earlier DC-9 variants while retaining the familiar rear-engine, T-tail configuration. Frontier used aircraft of this class on domestic services from Denver as it competed with expanding rivals. The original Frontier Airlines ceased operations in 1986, years before the present-day carrier using the Frontier name began service in 1994.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
