Boeing 777F, serial number 41675, operated by Lufthansa Cargo as D-ALFA. Although often described as a 777-200LRF, Boeing's official designation is simply 777F. Powered by two General Electric GE90-110B1 engines, D-ALFA offers exceptional long range, roughly 100 metric tons of payload capability, and substantially improved fuel efficiency compared with older three- and four-engine freighters. The aircraft operates from Lufthansa Cargo's Frankfurt hub to major freight markets worldwide. D-ALFA helped launch the carrier's transition away from the McDonnell Douglas MD-11F and represents the core of its modern intercontinental freighter fleet.

Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
