Boeing 727-132, construction number 19064, was delivered to Delta Air Lines as N1633 in 1965 during the airline's early jet expansion. The aircraft was assigned to short and medium haul routes across the United States, replacing older first generation jets and turboprops. N1633 featured a three engine configuration with a T tail, allowing operations from shorter runways and smaller airports in Delta's network. It wore Delta's classic red, white, and blue livery of the era and provided improved speed and passenger comfort. After years of dependable service, N1633 was retired as Delta transitioned to larger and more efficient aircraft types, closing its chapter in the airline's early jet history.
