ATR 72-200, operated by Cubana de Aviacion as CU-T1548. The larger member of the ATR turboprop family provided additional capacity for domestic Cuban services and shorter international routes around the Caribbean. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW124-series engines, the ATR 72-200 combined economical fuel consumption with dependable short-field performance. CU-T1548 was well suited to connecting Havana with provincial airports where larger jet aircraft were unnecessary or less economical. The ATR 72 complemented Cubana's smaller ATR 42s while providing substantially more passenger capacity, making the type a useful component of the airline's diverse regional fleet.
