Airbus A320neo, operated by Air China as B-8891. The aircraft is part of the carrier's extensive narrowbody fleet and operates domestic and regional international routes from bases throughout China. Powered by new-generation high-bypass turbofan engines, the A320neo offers lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions, greater range, and quieter operation compared with earlier A320 variants. B-8891 provides efficient capacity for high-frequency short and medium-haul services and retains cockpit and maintenance commonality with Air China's established Airbus fleet. The A320neo family is an important component of the airline's ongoing modernization as passenger demand continues growing across China's enormous domestic network.

Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. More than 4,500 of the A320 family have been produced, almost all of which are still in active service. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
