Airbus A320-214, operated by Air Arabia as A6-AOA. The aircraft is part of the Sharjah-based carrier's large Airbus narrowbody fleet and serves low-cost routes throughout the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and Europe. Powered by two CFM International CFM56-5B engines, the A320 provides reliable short and medium-haul performance with the efficient high-density seating required by Air Arabia's business model. The airline built its operation around the A320 family, benefiting from fleet commonality, straightforward maintenance, and broad airport compatibility. Newer A320neo-family aircraft increasingly complement the established fleet as Air Arabia continues expanding its network.

Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives.
