Embraer E170, operated by Republic Airlines for US Airways Express as N803MD. The regional jet provided feeder service into US Airways hubs while offering a more spacious cabin than smaller 50-seat regional jets. Powered by two General Electric CF34-8E engines, the E170 features four-abreast seating, large overhead bins, and useful range for short and medium-haul routes. Aircraft such as N803MD connected smaller and medium-sized cities with major US Airways gateways including Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Washington. Following the American Airlines-US Airways merger, many E170s continued operating within the combined carrier's regional network under the American Eagle brand.
Designed as a medium-range, narrow-body, twin-jet, the Embraer ERJ 170 launched Embraer's "E-Jet" series and was first flown on February 19th, 2002. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
