Boeing 737-824, operated by United Airlines as N76516. The aircraft joined Continental Airlines before becoming part of United's fleet following the 2010 merger. Powered by two CFM International CFM56-7B engines, N76516 operates domestic, transborder, Caribbean, and Latin American services from United's major hubs. The 737-800 provides a useful balance of passenger capacity, range, and operating efficiency and has become one of the most numerous narrowbody types in the combined United fleet. Aircraft inherited from Continental retained their registrations while receiving United colors, creating a large standardized fleet that continues to serve routes throughout the Americas. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
