Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection. Gemini's 1:200 scale Boeing 777 is a large model in this scale and is constructed almost entirely of solid diecast metal. The wide-body fuselage features a solid all around seamless construction with pad-printed windows and doors, fine photo-etched antennas and glimmering jewel-cut anti-collision lenses on top and bottom. The model is supported on an all metal fixed landing gear with a steerable nose wheel, separately applied landing light lenses and pivoting main gear bogies.
