Boeing 727-131, construction number 19080, was delivered to Trans World Airlines (TWA) as N851TW in 1965 during the airline's early jet expansion. The aircraft primarily operated domestic routes across the United States, connecting key hubs such as New York, St. Louis, and Kansas City. N851TW featured the 727's distinctive three-engine T-tail configuration, allowing operations from shorter runways while providing speed and passenger comfort. Painted in TWA's red, white, and black livery, it helped modernize the airline's fleet. After years of reliable service, N851TW was retired as TWA replaced its 727-100s with more efficient 727-200s and DC-9s, marking the end of its operational life.
Designed as a smaller, short/medium-ranged complement to the 707, the 727 was first flown on February 9th, 1963. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Gemini's 1:200 scale Boeing 727 series airliners are constructed almost entirely of solid diecast and ready for display right out of the box. The fuselage features a solid all around seamless construction with pad-printed windows and doors, fine photo-etched antennas and glimmering jewel-cut anti-collision lens on top and bottom. Additional features include solid metal wings with finely scaled flap fairings at the rear, simulated heating elements on the wings, fin and stabilators and a separately applied nose wheel landing light lens. The series covers the original 727-100 and the 727-200 variant with its notably larger stretched fuselage.
