Airbus A320-252N, operated by Transavia France as F-GNEO. The aircraft belongs to the Air France-KLM group's new-generation narrowbody fleet and is part of Transavia's transition away from Boeing 737 aircraft. Powered by two CFM International LEAP-1A engines, F-GNEO offers improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and lower noise while maintaining high-density seating appropriate for low-cost leisure operations. Transavia uses its A320neo-family aircraft from French bases to destinations throughout Europe, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. The Airbus fleet provides commonality with other Air France-KLM operations while supporting Transavia's continued expansion in the competitive European leisure market.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. Gemini's 1:200 scale A320 family are constructed almost entirely of diecast metal and are ready to be displayed right out of the box. The seamlessly constructed fuselage features fine photo-etched metal antennas, jewel cut anti-collision lenses and pad-printed windows and doors that do not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The series covers the original A320 fuselage, the stretched A321 variant and the shorter A319. Each model features solid metal wings with delicate "sharklet" wingtips and fitted with either Pratt & Whitney or CFM International turbo fan engines with detailed fan blades inside.
