Boeing 737-8K5, operated by TUI Airways as G-FDZU. The aircraft joined the British leisure carrier's large 737-800 fleet for holiday services from UK regional airports. Powered by two CFM International CFM56-7B engines, G-FDZU combines dependable performance, useful range, and efficient high-density seating for routes to Spain, Greece, Turkey, the Canary Islands, and other popular destinations. The 737-800 became a workhorse of TUI's short and medium haul operation and helped standardize the airline's narrowbody fleet. Newer 737 MAX aircraft are progressively assuming a larger role while aircraft such as G-FDZU continue serving the leisure network. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
