Fokker 100, operated by TAM Linhas Aereas as PT-MRA. The Dutch-built twinjet played an important role in TAM's transformation from a regional Brazilian airline into a major national carrier. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Tay turbofans, the Fokker 100 offered approximately 100 seats, good short-field performance, and efficient operation on domestic routes. TAM became one of the world's largest Fokker 100 operators, using the type extensively between major Brazilian cities during the 1990s and early 2000s. Aircraft such as PT-MRA became closely associated with TAM before Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft progressively replaced the Fokker fleet.
Designed to supercede the F28 Fellowship as a short-range, medium-capacity airliner, the Fokker 100 was first flown on November 30th, 1986. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
