Embraer E170, operated by S7 Airlines as VQ-BBO. The aircraft served the Russian carrier on regional and domestic routes, providing efficient capacity for thinner markets within S7's extensive network. Powered by two General Electric CF34-8E engines, the E170 offers a comfortable four-abreast cabin, useful range, and lower trip costs than larger Airbus A320-family aircraft. S7 used Embraer regional jets to connect secondary Russian cities with hubs such as Moscow Domodedovo and Novosibirsk. The type allowed the airline to maintain frequencies on routes where demand did not justify a larger narrowbody while still offering jet speed and passenger comfort.
Designed as a medium-range, narrow-body, twin-jet, the Embraer ERJ 170 launched Embraer's "E-Jet" series and was first flown on February 19th, 2002. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
