McDonnell Douglas MD-90-30, operated by Reno Air as N905RA. The aircraft joined the Nevada-based carrier's fleet during the 1990s as Reno Air expanded from its western U.S. network. Powered by two International Aero Engines V2500 turbofans, the MD-90 offered improved fuel efficiency, greater thrust, and lower noise than the earlier MD-80 family. Reno Air became one of the relatively few U.S. operators of the type and used it on routes from Reno, San Jose, and other western cities. American Airlines acquired Reno Air in 1999 and briefly inherited the MD-90 fleet before disposing of the small subfleet.
Designed as a stretched and more powerful MD-80, the MD-90 was first flown on February 22nd, 1993. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
