Airbus A320-214, serial number 3553, operated by Philippine Airlines as RP-C8619. The aircraft joined the flag carrier's narrowbody fleet for domestic and regional international services. Powered by two CFM International CFM56-5B engines, RP-C8619 combined dependable short and medium haul performance with a comfortable single-aisle cabin and extensive commonality with other Airbus A320-family aircraft. Philippine Airlines used its A320s to connect Manila and other hubs with cities throughout the Philippines and destinations across East and Southeast Asia. The type became a workhorse of the carrier's regional operation before newer A321 and A321neo aircraft assumed an increasing share of high-demand routes.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. More than 4,500 of the A320 family have been produced, almost all of which are still in active service. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Gemini's 1:200 scale A320 family are constructed almost entirely of diecast metal and are ready to be displayed right out of the box. The seamlessly constructed fuselage features fine photo-etched metal antennas, jewel cut anti-collision lenses and pad-printed windows and doors that do not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The series covers the original A320 fuselage, the stretched A321 variant and the shorter A319. Each model features solid metal wings with delicate "sharklet" wingtips and fitted with either Pratt & Whitney or CFM International turbo fan engines with detailed fan blades inside.
