Boeing 727-235 Advanced, serial number 22457, entered service with Pan American World Airways as N368PA. The aircraft joined Pan Am's narrowbody fleet during the late 1970s and operated domestic and international routes throughout North America, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 727-200 Advanced offered increased range, payload capability, and improved operating efficiency compared with earlier variants. Powered by three Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines, N368PA supported Pan Am's extensive route network during the airline's final decade of operations.

The fuselage features a solid all around seamless construction with pad-printed windows and doors, fine photo-etched antennas and glimmering jewel-cut anti-collision lens on top and bottom. Additional features include solid metal wings with finely scaled flap fairings at the rear, simulated heating elements on the wings, fin and stabilators and a separately applied nose wheel landing light lens. The series covers the original 727-100 and the 727-200 variant with its notably larger stretched fuselage.
