Airbus A340-313X, serial number 117, operated by Air China as B-2389. The four-engine widebody served the Chinese flag carrier on long haul international routes from Beijing to destinations in Europe, North America, and Asia. Powered by four CFM International CFM56-5C engines, B-2389 offered dependable intercontinental range and a spacious twin-aisle cabin. Air China's A340-300 fleet played an important role during the airline's international expansion before newer, more efficient Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900 twinjets assumed its missions. The A340 represented a distinctive era of four-engine long distance travel in Air China's history.
