McDonnell Douglas MD-90-30, serial number 53576, operated by Reno Air as N904RA rather than American Airlines. The aircraft joined Reno Air's fleet during the 1990s and was later absorbed into American Airlines when American acquired the carrier in 1999. Powered by two International Aero Engines V2500 turbofans, the MD-90 offered improved fuel efficiency, greater thrust, and lower noise than earlier MD-80 variants. American inherited Reno Air's MD-90s but operated them only briefly before disposing of the small subfleet. N904RA subsequently served other operators, while American standardized around its much larger MD-80 fleet for similar domestic missions.
Designed as a stretched and more powerful MD-80, the MD-90 was first flown on February 22nd, 1993. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
