Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, serial number 40624, operated by American Airlines as N808AN. The aircraft joined American's new-generation long haul fleet as the carrier introduced the Dreamliner to replace older Boeing 767 and other widebody aircraft. Powered by two General Electric GEnx engines, N808AN combines excellent intercontinental range and fuel efficiency with large windows, lower cabin altitude, and a quieter passenger environment. American deploys its 787-8s from major hubs on international routes to Europe, Asia, South America, and other markets. The type also provides useful flexibility on long routes where the larger 787-9 or 777 would offer more capacity than required.
Designed as a mid-sized, wide-body airliner and constructed out of mostly composite material, the 787 was first flown on December 15th, 2009. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
