Airbus A320-271N, serial number 7126, operated by LATAM Airlines as CC-BHG. The aircraft first flew on July 29, 2016 under Airbus test registration F-WWBV and was delivered to LATAM Brasil as PT-TMN on August 30, becoming the first A320neo delivered to a South American airline. It carried special "First A320neo in South America" markings. After early service in Brazil, the aircraft transferred to LATAM Chile in March 2018 and became CC-BHG. Powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1127G engines, it was originally configured for 174 passengers and was increased to 180 seats in 2021. It remains active with LATAM in 2026.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives.
