Douglas DC-8-63, operated by VIASA as YV-125C. The stretched DC-8-63 provided the Venezuelan flag carrier with substantially greater passenger capacity than earlier DC-8 variants and became an important part of VIASA's long-haul fleet. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofans, YV-125C was used from Caracas on international services linking Venezuela with North America, Europe and other Latin American destinations. The DC-8-63 was particularly well suited to VIASA's high-density intercontinental routes, combining the longest fuselage of the original DC-8 family with considerable range. It represents the period when VIASA was one of Latin America's most prominent international airlines.

Douglas DC-8-63

Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958.
