Boeing 767-3S1ER, serial number 26608, line number 559, operated by TACA as N769TA. The aircraft first flew on November 4, 1994 and was delivered to TACA later that month, configured with 20 business-class and 212 economy seats and powered by General Electric CF6-80C2 engines. In May 2000 it left TACA for Canadian Airlines as C-GGBI and subsequently transferred to Air Canada. Its later career included service with Alitalia as EI-DDW, where it was named "Sebastiano Caboto," followed by service with Business Air of Thailand as HS-BIH. Its multinational career eventually stretched across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
