Boeing 767-316F/ER, serial number 34627, line number 948, operated by MasAir Cargo as N420LA. Delivered new to the Mexican freight carrier in October 2006, the aircraft spent much of its career carrying international cargo between Mexico, the United States, Latin America, and other markets. It transferred to LATAM Cargo Mexico in 2016, returned to MasAir in 2018, and left MasAir again in August 2022. The following month it joined LATAM Cargo Chile while retaining registration N420LA. In 2024 it received LATAM's "Avion Solidario" markings, highlighting the airline group's humanitarian and community cargo program. Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
