Sergei Dolgushin was a distinguished Soviet fighter ace during World War II. He gained fame for his exceptional piloting skills and bravery, flying various aircraft including the Yakovlev Yak-1 and later the Lavochkin La-7. The La-7, renowned for its speed, maneuverability, and firepower, became Dolgushin's signature aircraft. He achieved numerous aerial victories with it, contributing significantly to the Soviet Union's air superiority on the Eastern Front. Dolgushin's legacy as a formidable ace was cemented by his skillful use of the La-7, a plane that represented the pinnacle of Soviet piston-engine fighter technology during the war.
Designed as a high-altitude interceptor version of the La-5, the La7 was first flown on November 19th, 1943. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
