The Sturmpanzer IV (also known as Sturmpanzer 43 or Sd.Kfz. 166) was an armoured infantry support gun based on the Panzer IV chassis used in the Second World War. It was used at the Battles of Kursk, Anzio, Normandy, and helped to put down the Warsaw Uprising. It was known by the nickname Brummbar (German: "Grumbler") by Allied intelligence, a name which was not used by the Germans. German soldiers nicknamed it the "Stupa", a contraction of the term Sturmpanzer.

Alkett Sd.Kfz.166 Brumbar

The Sturmpanzer 43, or, Brummbar was a German infantry support gun built on the Panzer IV chassis intended as a support gun especially in urban areas. It was armed with a 150mm howitzer and had a thick fully enclosed casemate on the chassis to protect the crew. It also had a slot for an MG-34 machine gun on the gunner's hatch. Production of the Brummbar began in 1943 and ceased in 1945. The Brummbar was also involved in many large battles such as, Normandy, Kursk and Anzio. It was called the Brummbar (Grouch) by the allies, it was likely because of its large firepower.
