Originally constructed as a light cruiser to comply with the Washington Naval Treaty, Mogami became a heavy cruiser when 8" guns were added in 1937 and an "aircraft cruiser" when turrets four and five were replaced with reconnaissance aircraft in 1943.

Please note: Unlike other releases in this series, this particular model ships in a plastic clamshell case only, without a cardboard outer box and without a Japanese language magazine.

This series was originally produced for the Japanese market and so the display stand is written in Japanese. Nevertheless, the beauty and detail of the models speak for themselves - no translation necessary!
