The M1 Abrams MCBS (Mine Clearing Blade System) is an attachment designed to clear paths through minefields. Fitted to the tank's front, it uses heavy blades to dig into the ground, pushing or detonating mines safely away. The plough is wide enough to clear the entire tank's path, ensuring its tracks avoid mines. It's built to withstand detonations, protecting the tank and crew. Easily attached or detached, it offers flexibility for various missions. By clearing mines, the Abrams can lead troops or other vehicles through dangerous areas, ensuring safe passage in heavily mined zones during combat operations. General Dynamics delivered the first M1 Abrams to the U.S. Army in 1980. The Abrams is a full tracked, low profile land combat system possessing a high degree of armor protection, lethal firepower, maneuverability and agility. It is built primarily from sturdy rolled homogeneous armor steel plates, sandwiched around thicker protective material. Its four man crew is aided by an array of sensors that constantly monitor the tank's tilt, the turret's motion and any gusts of wind; a computer adjusts the gun accordingly to keep it aimed at its target.
