The pilot model of the M4 was completed in September 1941, and the Sherman became the most widely produced tank of the war. The M4 Sherman defeated heavier tanks with superior numbers, and by using outflanking tactics to strike thinner enemy flank armor. Shermans also achieved success with progressively upgunned models and by working with tank destroyers. The Sherman tank--named by the British--was fast, maneuverable, mechanically reliable, easy to manufacture, and effective in its infantry support role. It served with the US Army and Marines during World War II, and the US transferred large numbers to the United Kingdom and allied forces of many countries. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Designed by Ferdinand Porsche as a low-cost and light-weight utility vehicle, the Kubelwagen prototype was completed in 1938 and entered full scale production in February 1940. The chassis design was initially derived from the highly successful Beetle while the bodywork was kept deliberately light-weight and functional. In fact, the name "Kubelwagen" literally translates to "Bucket Seat Car". Unlike the US Jeep, the Kubelwagen was a two-wheel drive vehicle but its high ground clearence and low gearing yielded excellent off-road performance and enabled it to keep pace with marching soldiers. The Kubelwagen was a mainstay of the German Military and saw action in every theater. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Dragon's 1:72 scale StuG III is constructed entirely from plastic for the finest possible detail. Close scrutiny of this model reveals its finer points, such as welding beads between the armor plates and individual hexagonal shaped nuts and bolt ends on the armor's surface. Each side of the hull includes hand-painted equipment and tools such as tow cables, shovels, track repair equipment and spare road wheels. The pivoting cannon has a hollowed muzzle break, and the track system features sprockets and road wheels with simulated rubber tires and individual nuts and bolts. On the underside, the suspension and maintenance panels are clearly visible.
