Dragon Models 1:72 Armor Collector Series 60264
Henschel/Porsche Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger Display Model
German Army sPzJgAbt 653, #314, Alsace, France, 1945, (Porsche Version)

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Henschel/Porsche Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger   4.25"   2"

It weighed more than 70 tons...It was the heaviest armored vehicle to enter combat in WWII…It boasted a powerful 128mm PaK44 L/55 gun…It was none other than the formidable Jagdtiger! Dragon now brings to collectors, a spectacular 1/72 scale model of this mighty German tank destroyer. The model is distinguished by the fact that it features the rare Porsche suspension system. Of the 88 Jagdtigers built, just 11 of the earliest vehicles were based on the Porsche suspension design, which had eight road wheels instead of the nine wheels on the later Henschel-designed setup.

This model represents a vehicle fighting against the advancing Allies in Alsace on the Western Front in 1945. It is from sPzJgAbt 653, one of only two heavy antitank battalions equipped with the Jagdtiger (the other was sPzJgAbt 512). Interestingly, only about 20% of Jagdtigers were lost as a result of combat damage, for the majority were abandoned and sabotaged by their crews usually when they broke down! Another interesting aspect of this model from Dragon Armor is the zimmerit coating, which adorns the hull and almost to the top of the superstructure sides. This is produced by Dragon's high-tech patented zimmerit process. The top of the boxy fighting compartment is also draped in a tarpaulin, which provided some form of additional weather protection for the crew. The accurate scale model is coated in a precise three-coat camouflage scheme. It's also authentically weathered, which enhances the scale look of the zimmerit. All in all, this is a fine rendition of the mightiest armored vehicle to fire in anger during the world's largest ever conflict.

Henschel/Porsche Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger

The Panzerjager Tiger or Jagdtiger was a tank destroyer that saw service from late 1944 to the end of the war on both the Western Front and Eastern Front. It was the heaviest armored fighting vehicle to see service during World War II.

Dragon's 1:72 scale Jadgtiger is constructed entirely from plastic, which allows for the finest level of detailing. Cutting torch marks can be seen at the ends of the casements on the armor plates, and rivets, bolts and handles are visible on the superstructure's hatches and thinly hollowed engine vents. The hull features separately applied headlights, separately applied track equipment and the visible barrel of the internal machine gun. Releases in this series have a simulated Zimmerit coating or battlefield equipment and spare tracks mounted on hooks to the sides of the casement. Available models include the Henschel with nine road wheels and the Porsche version with eight.
