Dragon Models 1:72 Armor Collector Series 60072
FMC Corporation AAV7 AmTrac Display Model
US Army 3rd Amphibious Assault Btn, Baghdad, Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
FMC Corporation AAV7 AmTrac   4.25"   1.75"

At 8.16m long, 3.31m high, and 3.27m wide, it is a large vehicle. AAVs (Amphibious Assault Vehicle) were instrumental in carrying Marines all the way from Kuwait to Baghdad, Iraq in "Operation Iraqi Freedom", 2003. All details are accurately reproduced, including the attachment points for the EAAK (Enhanced Armor Appliqué Kit). The 1:72 scale model is actually a Personnel variant of the AAV7A1 that has been upgraded to RAM/RS standard. This is signaled by such modifications as the exhaust system mounted on the roof. The AAV7A1 family of vehicles now being coproduced by SAMSUNG TECHWIN and United Defense L.P., is the most advanced version of the AAV7/LVT7. The unique vessel-shaped hull design, powerful water jet and powertrain make the AAV7A1 family a highly mobile fleets of amphibious vehicle. They travel 13km/h in the water and 72km/h on the land enabling them to achieve effective ship to shore transporting operations in a variety of adverse seal/land conditions.

FMC Corporation AAV7 AmTrac

Designed to replace the LVT-5, the AAV-7 was introduced in 1972 as the LVT-7. A decade after its appearance, the LVT-7 was given an improved engine, weapons system and transmission and was renamed AAV-7A1. Armed with an M2HB .50 caliber machine gun and capable of transporting 25 combat-equipped troops, this Amphibious Assault Vehicle is used by the United States Marine Corps for landing amphibious operations. Its long service history has included the Falkland Island invasion, the Persian Gulf War and the second Iraq War, though it has recently been criticized for failing to protect troops as well as newer vehicles such as the M2 Bradley.

Dragon's 1:72 scale Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) is a beautiful replica of this versatile modern-day amphibious landing craft, used by the United States Marine Corps. This model features hand-painted headlights and tail lights, detailed crew hatches and engine vents and non-moving rubber tracks. Variants include the "recovery" AAV, which is equipped with a top-mounted crane with operator's seat and controls (instead of a turret), and the "personnel" variant, with 360 degree rotating turret, pivoting grenade launcher and machine gun. Some personnel variants include a Mine Clearance Line Charge, which rises through the top-mounted cargo bay doors.
