"Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean" is the ninth episode of the British television series, Mr. Bean. It was first broadcast on 10 January 1994 and was watched by 15.60 million viewers during its original transmission. It's never easy to resist the January Sales, but when you're Mr.Bean, you own a Mini, and you buy too much, improvising is always the key. While the interior may be stuffed with bargain purchases, the only solution available to Mr.Bean is to modify the car to drive it home seated in a new armchair carefully installed on top of the roof. A complex system of ropes, pulleys, broom handles and bricks all work brilliantly, until the unfortunate appearance of a hill on the journey home.... The Austin Mini, launched in 1959 by the British Motor Corporation, revolutionized small car design with its compact size and innovative front-wheel-drive layout. Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis, the Mini maximized interior space through its transverse engine and wheels pushed to the corners, making it surprisingly roomy despite its tiny footprint. Powered initially by an 848cc engine, it became famous for its nimble handling and fuel efficiency. The Mini's iconic design and affordability made it a cultural icon of the 1960s, popular across all social classes. Its success inspired countless variants and it remains one of the most influential cars in automotive history. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
