Converted from a bomber to an aerial refueling tanker, the Handley Page Victor proved itself more than once, firstly in the Falklands War of 1982, then in the Gulf War. When Iraq invaded Kuwait, No. 55 Squadron, RAF began deploying from Marham, Norfolk, Muharraq, Bahrain, on 14th December 1990, initially with four aircraft, increasing to six by 16th January and eight on 19th January 1991. As in World War II, many RAF aircraft in the Gulf War were adorned with pin-up nose art, including all the Victor tankers. XL231 was named "Lusty Linda," and carried out 16 refueling missions. In 1994, XL231 was retired and presented to the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, where it is preserved and on display.

Corgi's 1:144 scale Victor is constructed almost entirely of diecast metal with only the smallest amount of plastic used, a quality common to most of Corgi's 1:144 series aircraft. The sleek fuselage features pad-printed windows and doors that do not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The wing is loaded with detail and has large anti-shock pods on the top surface of the trailing edge, veined engine inlets on the leading edge and external fuel tanks below. Configuration for ground display is easy with landing gear that installs quickly, and there is also a multi-position display stand for in flight display.
