Boeing 767-223, construction number 22312, was delivered to American Airlines as N308AA in 1983 as part of the carrier's initial 767 introduction. The aircraft operated domestic trunk and transcontinental routes, later expanding to international services across the Atlantic. N308AA wore American's classic polished aluminum livery with red, white, and blue striping, becoming a familiar sight at major hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth and Chicago O'Hare. Powered by General Electric CF6 engines, the 767-200 offered improved fuel efficiency and twin engine reliability compared with older widebodies. N308AA served for decades before retirement as American transitioned to newer 767 and 787 aircraft.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. With more than 1000 aircraft produced, the 767 is the second most prolific wide-bodied airliner after the 747. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
