Boeing 737-232 Advanced, serial number 23093, line number 1024, operated by Delta Air Lines as N321DL. Delivered new on September 5, 1984, the aircraft later flew in Delta Express colors as part of Delta's low-fare operation serving leisure markets, particularly Florida. After more than two decades with Delta, N321DL was transferred to Northern Air Cargo in April 2006. It was converted to a freighter in January 2007, beginning a second career carrying cargo in Alaska, where the 737-200's rugged design was particularly useful for remote operations.

Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967.
