Boeing 737-232 Advanced, serial number 23074, line number 993, operated by Delta Air Lines and later Delta Express as N302DL. Delivered new to Delta in November 1983, the aircraft spent its early career on the airline's domestic network before being assigned to Delta Express, the low-fare operation launched in 1996 to compete aggressively in leisure markets. Wearing Delta Express titles, N302DL primarily served routes connecting Florida with cities in the Northeast and Midwest. The aircraft was retired as Delta phased out its aging JT8D-powered 737-200 fleet and was stored at Goodyear, Arizona by late 2001.

Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967.
