Boeing 747-4Q8, serial number 24958, operated by Virgin Atlantic Airways as G-VFAB. Named 'Lady Penelope,' the aircraft became one of Virgin Atlantic's most recognizable Boeing 747s and wore several distinctive liveries during its long career. Powered by four General Electric CF6 engines, G-VFAB operated high-capacity long haul services from London to destinations across North America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. It joined Virgin Atlantic in 1994 and served for more than two decades, becoming closely associated with the airline's glamorous image and flagship 747 operation. G-VFAB was retired in 2015 as newer Boeing 787 and Airbus aircraft entered the fleet.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
