Boeing 737-8Q3, serial number 61479, entered service with Japan Transocean Air as JA06RK. The aircraft forms part of JTA's fleet of 737-800s introduced to replace the carrier's long-serving 737-400 aircraft. Powered by two CFM International CFM56-7B engines, JA06RK offers improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and greater range while retaining the rugged reliability required for frequent island services. Based in Okinawa, the aircraft operates routes connecting Naha with destinations throughout the Ryukyu Islands and mainland Japan. The 737-800 has become the backbone of Japan Transocean Air's passenger fleet and supports both tourism and essential regional transportation. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
