Boeing 737-8Q3, serial number 61478, entered service with Japan Transocean Air as JA05RK. The aircraft joined JTA's modern 737-800 fleet as the Okinawa-based carrier replaced its older Boeing 737-400s. Powered by two CFM International CFM56-7B engines, JA05RK provides improved fuel efficiency, range, reliability, and passenger comfort for services linking Okinawa with destinations throughout Japan. The aircraft is particularly well suited to JTA's network of island and mainland routes, combining useful capacity with dependable short and medium haul performance. JA05RK remains an important part of the airline's all-Boeing narrowbody operation. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
