Boeing 737-301, serial number 23262, operated by Western Pacific Airlines as N956WP. The aircraft joined the Colorado-based low-cost carrier during the 1990s and was used on scheduled services from Colorado Springs and later Denver to destinations across the United States. Powered by two CFM International CFM56 engines, the 737-300 provided economical short and medium haul performance. Western Pacific became famous among enthusiasts for colorful aircraft carrying large advertising liveries for outside companies and attractions. N956WP represented this distinctive era of American low-cost aviation before Western Pacific encountered financial difficulties and ceased operations in 1998. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
