Boeing 707-351B, serial number 19353, operated by Northwest Orient Airlines as N373US. The aircraft formed part of Northwest Orient's pioneering jet fleet and helped expand long distance services across the United States and Pacific. Powered by four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, the 707-320B combined improved range and payload capability with much greater speed than the piston and turboprop aircraft it replaced. N373US served during an era when Northwest built a major transpacific network linking the United States with Japan and other Asian destinations. The 707 eventually gave way to larger Boeing 747s and other widebody aircraft as passenger demand increased.
Designed as the first American turbine-engined airliner, the 707 was first flown on July 15th, 1954. The aicraft was designed from the start as a commercial airliner and military transport/refuelling platform and various models rolled off the production lines for 25 years. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
