Airbus A340-313X, serial number 0170, operated by Air Canada as C-FTNQ. The aircraft formed part of Air Canada's long haul A340 fleet during the 1990s and early 2000s. Powered by four CFM International CFM56-5C engines, C-FTNQ provided intercontinental range for services from Canada to Europe, Asia, and other distant markets. The four-engine A340 was especially attractive for long overwater routes before extended-range twin-engine operations became commonplace. Air Canada eventually replaced its A340s with more efficient Boeing 777 and other twin-engine widebodies, but aircraft such as C-FTNQ represented an important stage in the carrier's transition to a modern Airbus long haul fleet.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
