Airbus A330-223, serial number 1526, operated by Aerolineas Argentinas as LV-FVH. The aircraft joined the Argentine flag carrier's long haul fleet for services from Buenos Aires to destinations throughout the Americas and Europe. Powered by two General Electric CF6 turbofan engines, the A330-200 combines intercontinental range with moderate widebody capacity and substantial cargo capability. LV-FVH has operated important routes linking Argentina with cities such as Miami, Madrid, and other international destinations. Aerolineas Argentinas adopted the A330 as a more efficient replacement for older four-engine Airbus A340 aircraft, making the twin-engine widebody a cornerstone of its modern long distance operation.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers.
