McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10, serial number 47969, entered service with Delta Air Lines as N605DA in February 1973. It was one of five DC-10s sold to United Airlines and leased back to Delta while the airline awaited delayed Lockheed L-1011 deliveries. Powered by three General Electric CF6-6 engines, N605DA operated domestic widebody services until May 1975, when it returned to United and became N1837U. It later served CP Air and Canadian Airlines before returning to United, and was eventually broken up at Goodyear, Arizona, in 2002.
Designed to meet an American Airlines requirement for a wide-bodied transport, the DC-10 was first flown on August 29th, 1970. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
