Airbus A330-343, serial number 1621, operated by Cathay Pacific as B-LBK. The aircraft joined Cathay's extensive A330 fleet for regional and medium haul services from Hong Kong to destinations throughout Asia and the Pacific. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, B-LBK combines substantial passenger and cargo capacity with efficient twin-engine operation and excellent reliability. Cathay Pacific has long used the A330-300 as a versatile regional widebody on high-demand routes where narrowbody capacity is insufficient but larger long haul aircraft are unnecessary. B-LBK has served alongside Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s and remains representative of one of the most important aircraft families in Cathay's modern fleet.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
