Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, serial number 40692, registered N787BX, was one of Boeing's original 787 flight-test aircraft. The Dreamliner introduced extensive composite construction, electrically driven systems, advanced aerodynamics, and new-generation engines to reduce fuel consumption while improving passenger comfort. N787BX participated in the extensive development and certification program that followed the 787's first flight in December 2009. Test aircraft were used to evaluate handling, systems, performance, structural behavior, and certification requirements before customer deliveries began. The 787-8 subsequently entered commercial service in 2011 and established the foundation for the larger 787-9 and 787-10 variants that followed.
Designed as a mid-sized, wide-body airliner and constructed out of mostly composite material, the 787 was first flown on December 15th, 2009. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
