Airbus A340-313X, operated by China Airlines as B-18805. The aircraft joined China Airlines' long haul fleet during the early 2000s and operated intercontinental services from Taipei to destinations across Europe, Australia, and other distant international markets. Powered by four CFM International CFM56-5C engines, the A340-300 provided excellent long range capability at a time when restrictions on twin-engine operations made four-engine aircraft attractive for lengthy overwater routes. B-18805 served alongside China Airlines' Boeing 747-400s before newer, more fuel-efficient Airbus A350-900s progressively replaced the A340 fleet, bringing the carrier's four-engine Airbus era to an end.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
