Airbus A340-311, serial number 032, entered service with Air Lanka as 4R-ADA in September 1994. The aircraft was historically significant as the first Airbus A340 delivered to an Asian airline, making Air Lanka the type's Asian launch customer. Powered by four CFM International CFM56-5C engines, 4R-ADA operated long haul services from Colombo to destinations across Europe, Asia, and Australia. It continued flying after Air Lanka became SriLankan Airlines in 1999 and remained in service until April 2015. The aircraft was subsequently stored at Cotswold Airport in England and broken up there in March 2016.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
